An individual who spiked candy with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males aged nine and 10.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.

Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.

The prosecutor added: "This year his family member had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They chose" to investigate in the individual's items."

The legal counsel explained objects including baby oil, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his family member alerted the police about his worries.

She said the defendant went on to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.

"The police had not responded by that time," she added.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining the police response of the incident.

The legal representative stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson notified the police once more.

She said Ruben then played the "sweet game" in a space of five minors.
